When To Plant Impatiens In India

The growing season for Impatiens in India typically spans from early spring (March or April) through summer and into early autumn (October or November), with variations based on the region and local climate conditions.

How To Grow Impatiens From Seeds

Most impatiens are grown by seedling transplant method when the temperature is around 18-24°C. This is a dwarf variety of impatiens and can be planted easily in 6 inches-wide pot or grow bag.

Impatiens Mixed Seeds Sowing Method

Take a seedling tray, fill it with potting soil mix, and sow 1-2 impatiens seeds per cell at a depth of 0.5 cm in the soil. Water the potting mix gently through a watering can. Keep the seedling tray in a warm and bright area with indirect light. Impatiens seeds take 14-21 days to germinate.
Transplant impatiens seedlings to an individual pot when seedlings are a few inches tall. For healthy growth of the plant, plant only 1-2 seedlings in a 15 cm pot. Keep the soil moist and place the pot in partial sunlight for a few days after transplanting to protect the seedling from transplant shock. After 3 days, keep the pot in sunlight.

Impatiens Plant Fertilizer Requirements

Fertilize regularly with a water-soluble fertilizer such as cow manurevermicompost, or neem cake every two weeks for more blooms.

Impatiens Plant Care Tips

Soil - Use moist, but well-drained soil to plant impatiens.
Water - Impatiens need regular watering, especially on summer days. Do not let the soil dry for longer, and keep the soil moist.
Sunlight - Impatiens enjoy growing in a shady part of the garden. Direct sunlight for several hours can affect plant growth.
Temperature - Impatiens are sensitive to extreme cold and heat. The best day temperature for growing impatiens is 20-29°C while the night temperature is 15-18 °C.
Common pests - Some pests that inhibit the growth of impatiens plants are aphids, spider mites, mealybugs, and slugs. You can use neem oil on the plant to get rid of these insects.
