Product description

The Cricket Ball Sapota is a premium grafted variety of chikoo (Manilkara zapota), celebrated for producing some of the largest fruits of any sapota — round to nearly spherical, often approaching the size of a cricket ball. Beneath the brown skin is smooth, fine-grained, light-brown flesh with a rich, sweet, caramel-like flavour that makes it a favourite fresh table fruit. Grafted from selected mother plants for vigorous growth and true-to-type fruit, it is an early-bearing, dependable choice for home gardens, terrace grow bags, and orchards alike.

A premium grafted sapota famous for its exceptionally large, caramel-sweet fruit — early bearing and productive, for home gardens, terraces and orchards.

Why Cricket Ball Sapota (Chikoo)

  • Exceptionally large fruit: one of the biggest-fruited sapota varieties, round and full, often approaching cricket-ball size under good care.

  • Rich caramel sweetness: smooth, fine-grained, juicy light-brown flesh with a classic sweet, malty-caramel chikoo flavour.

  • Grafted for early, true-to-type fruit: propagated from selected mother plants, so it bears earlier than seed-grown sapota and stays true to variety.

  • Vigorous and productive: a strong-growing, regular-bearing tree well suited to Indian tropical and subtropical conditions.

  • Flexible growing: start it in a large grow bag or pot on a terrace or balcony, or plant it in the ground for a full orchard tree.

  • A rewarding grow: a favourite for home gardeners, terrace growers, and fruit-plant collectors who want a standout variety.

Inside The Box

  • Black poly nursery bag
  • Pre-moistened growing medium

Please Note

  • Fruit images are for variety reference only. Fruit size, sweetness, colour, yield, and bearing performance vary with climate, soil, irrigation, nutrition, and cultivation practices.

  • Plant height, branching, foliage, and overall appearance may vary depending on season and nursery stage — the plant you receive may differ slightly from the image shown; this is normal and a sign of authenticity.

  • Outdoor plant requiring full sun for best results.

How To Care

  • Light: Full sun — at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily for healthy growth and good fruiting.

  • Water: Moderate and deep. Water the young plant every 2–3 days in summer, allowing the top few cm of soil to dry between waterings; reduce during monsoon and winter. Avoid waterlogging, which harms the roots.

  • Soil: Well-draining loamy soil enriched with compost. Good drainage matters — sapota dislikes soggy roots.

  • Feeding: Feed with a balanced organic fertiliser / compost at the start of the growing season and again mid-season; add potash as the plant matures to support fruiting.

  • Container growing: For terraces, use a large grow bag or pot (a deep, wide container) with well-draining mix; pot up as the plant grows. Ground planting gives the largest tree and yield.

  • Protection: Protect young grafted plants from frost and strong cold; keep the graft union above the soil line.

  • Pruning: Light pruning to shape the canopy and remove crowded or dead branches encourages a strong, productive framework.
