When To Sow Stock Seeds In India

Stock is a winter flowering plant in India, you can sow double dwarf seed stock from winter to early spring (October-February) so that the stock plant will bloom from late spring to summer.

How To Grow Stocks From Seeds

Sow stock flower seeds by seedling transplant method (recommended). The optimum temperature for germinating stock seeds is around 15-23°C. You can grow stock in pots/grow bags at least 9 inches wide and deep.

Stocks Flower Seeds Sowing Method

Take a seedling tray or small-size pot, and fill it with potting soil mix or coco peat medium. Spread stock flower seeds on the soil and cover the soil with only 0.25 cm of soil as it needs light to germinate. Keep the soil moist by watering with a sprayer. Stock seeds germinate within 7-14 days.
When stock seedlings reach a few inches tall after germination, you can transplant them without disturbing their roots. The best potting mix for stock flower plants is 30% soil, 20% cow manure, 10% vermicompost, 20% coco peat, and 20% sand.

Fertilizer For Stocks Flower Plant

Only apply mustard cake, or bone meal solution as fertilizer every 15 days after transplant, it will enhance stock plant blooming.

Stock Flower Plant Care Tips

Soil - Use rich, and well-drained soil to plant stock flowers.
Water - Give water regularly during summer days and during winter watering should be done when the soil becomes dry.
Sunlight - Stock plants need at least 6 hours of full sun during winters and can grow well in some shade on hot days.
Temperature - Stock prefers cool weather to flowers and may not grow well in cold winters or high temperatures.
Common pests and diseases - Pests such as aphids, and flea beetles attack the stock plant, and some of the diseases that infect plants due to over-watering in the soil are leaf spots, root rot, and gray mold. It is best to cut off infected parts to avoid spreading the disease and use neem oil to control pests and diseases.

Stock Plant Bloom Time

After 40-60 days of transplant, stock flower blooms. Usually, stock bloom from spring to summer.
