How To Grow Cineraria Maritima In Pots

The seedling transplant method is mostly recommended for planting cineraria. Do not plant cineraria in a dark spot, otherwise, the seeds will not germinate well. The optimum germination temperature for cineraria seeds is 10-18°C.

Cineraria Maritima Seeds Sowing Method

Take a seedling tray and fill it with a potting mix, sprinkle the cineraria seeds on the soil, and cover the seeds with a thin layer, then press the soil with your hand. Place the seedling tray in a sunny spot or in partial shade. Water the soil gently through a small watering can and keep it moist until germination; Cineraria Maritima seeds can germinate in about 7-15 days.
After seed germination when cineraria seedlings have a few true leaves, you can transplant them into pots/grow bags or transplant them 3 weeks after germination. Plant only 1 or 2 cineraria seedlings in each 22-30 cm pot or maintain a 10-18 cm distance between plants.

Fertilizer Requirement For Cineraria Maritima Plants

Apply Bio NPK Liquid Fertilizer to your cineraria plants every 2 weeks. Begin applying fertilizer when flower buds appear.

Cineraria Maritima Plants Care Tips

Soil - Use well-drained, rich, moist, and slightly acidic soil for planting Cineraria Maritima.
Water - Cineraria prefers regular watering and constant soil moisture. Water the cineraria plant well but do not waterlog the soil as this will lead to root rot.
Sunlight - Cineraria does not grow well in full sunlight, it likes partial shade or filtered sunlight.
Temperature -  Cineraria grows best in temperatures between 10-22°C. If night temperatures are below -1°C, cineraria will die; They will stop blooming if the temperature is above 26°C.
Common pests and diseases - Pests such as Aphids, thrips, spider mites, and whiteflies inhibit the growth of cineraria by feeding on the plants. You can use neem oil on the plant to eliminate these insects. In addition, some fungal diseases such as powdery mildew, and gray mold infect the cineraria plant so it is best to cut off infected leaves to avoid the spread of these diseases.
